Welcome, potential new student! Great to hear that you are interested in studying Data Science at Aalto University. The degree combines courses from mathematics, statistics, and computation to build a strong background in Data Science.
Data Guild
Data Guild ry is the subject association for Data Science students in Aalto University. The guild oversees the interests of its students in study-related matters on the university’s side, takes care of fuksi upbringing (integration of new students to student life), and organizes various events from movie nights to sitsits (academic dinner parties).
Degree
During their studies in the Data Science BSc major, students will acquire skills for developing their problem-solving abilities using data-driven approaches. After completing their studies, students will be able to tackle real-world problems using powerful methods of machine learning, data mining, and artificial intelligence. Students will be able to manage efficiently large volumes of data and develop data-driven models for different applications. They will also be proficient in making sound inferences from data and making sense of big data.

Applying
Admission to Aalto Bachelor’s Programme in Science and Technology is organised through Aalto University’s application to English-taught bachelor’s programmes at studyinfo.fi. The application period for studies starting in August-September 2025 is from 8 to 23 January 2025.
Admission is based on either the SAT or the ACT test results or on the grades obtained in the Finnish Matriculation Examination, or in the IB, EB or DIA/RP diploma.
Admission results publication deadline for SAT/ACT-based admission is on 27 March 2025 at 3pm/15.00 (UTC+3). Admission results publication deadline for certificate-based admission is on 28 May 2025.
