Students’ Independence Day Procession
The student unions of the Capital Region are celebrating Independence Day together, just like last year. This year, students will join the procession for student wellbeing and mental health. The event is organised by the student unions of the Capital Region: HYY, AYY, ArtSU, SHS, Kadettitoverikunta, Metka and Helga.
The procession is filled with festive atmosphere and light in the spirit of the forward-looking student movement. Put on your student’s cap and weather-appropriate outerwear. We recommend that flagbearers and heralds wear dark clothing, but the dress code for everyone else is ‘come as you are’!

Call for student representatives in administration (hallopeds)
Student representatives in administration (hallopeds) will soon be elected for the calendar year 2023. All attending bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students of Aalto are eligible to apply. The application period is 14 Nov–30 Nov and there are nearly 300 vacancies. In addition, some Aalto steering groups or other preparatory bodies are filled without an open call. By finding motivated student representatives, we ensure that student advocacy will be in good hands next year!

Apply for Aalto-Helsinki 2023 iGEM Team
Are you looking for an interesting and meaningful project for next year? Do you want a chance to create and pursue your own ideas in research?
We are now recruiting Aalto University and University of Helsinki BSc and MSc students to form a new iGEM team to represent Finland in the world’s largest synthetic biology competition, iGEM, held next year in Paris. The Aalto-Helsinki team will design, develop and execute their own research project from scratch and present their results in the Grand Jamboree in October 2023.
Application form: https://forms.gle/S87vEUuuSdwx2pP39
Being a part of an iGEM team allows you to plan your own research project from scratch in three phases. In spring, you will get to know your team members and decide on the project you will try to develop during the summer. The team will also reach out to companies and gather funding. The summer consists of practical work and testing your design. In autumn, you will present your project and compete with other iGEM teams for the Grand Prize, as well as other Track and Special Awards.
