Laskiaisrieha and the world’s craziest academic downhill race are here again!
On Shrove Tuesday, it’s time to gather at Ullanlinnanmäki to celebrate the traditional Laskiaisrieha sledding festival. Throughout the lively afternoon, the hill fills with sleds, toboggans, sliders, and the students steering.
In addition to sledding, there will be music, competitions, and other entertainment. The day is crowned by the legendary ABB’s Academic Downhill Race, where teams compete with increasingly spectacular structures for the championship in academic downhill racing. In recent years, Ullanlinnanmäki’s historic descent stadium has seen saunas, UFOs, dinner tables, and even descents from bottom to top!

All Aalto University Students. Two Tracks. Winners take on the Global Stage.
Port_ launches student ideas from Aalto University onto a global platform featuring other universities.
Port_2025 is open to all Aalto Students with two tracks:
- Enhancing Human Society with AI (undergraduate track)
- Accelerating the Environmental Transition (graduate track)
The track winners will get an all-expense paid trip to either Seoul or Berlin, and have the opportunity to showcase their solutions at a university startup competition alongside students from other universities like University of Southern California (USC), Politecnico di Milano, Harvard University, UC Berkeley, and more. On top of that, the overall winning team will receive a cash prize of 2000€.

This year we have our partner Eviden sponsoring two summer school scholarships. Eviden is delivering our national supercomputer Roihu and is the leader in HPC/AI systems in Europe. The scholarship covers the participation fee and moderate travel costs within Finland (e.g., train fares). We strongly encourage applications from women and underrepresented minorities in the field of high-performance computing.
How to Apply for Scholarship:
- Eligibility requirement: scholarships are for undergraduate students enrolled in Finnish universities (no Bachelor’s degree at the time of the application)

- Why you are interested in high-performance computing and your motivation to attend the summer school
- How attending the summer school will benefit your studies and/or career plans

Opiskelijoiden mielenterveysviikko
Nyyti ry koordinoi joka kevät järjestettävää Opiskelijoiden mielenterveysviikkoa. Kampanjaviikko on tänä vuonna 7.–13.4.
Kampanjan teemana on ”Mitä kuuluu opiskelija?”. Teeman ajatuksena on nostaa esiin opiskelijoiden ääntä ja kokemuksia. Mitkä asiat tällä hetkellä tukevat tai toisaalta kuormittavat opiskelijoiden mielenterveyttä ja jaksamista?
Kampanja on meidän kaikkien yhteinen ja toivomme, että mahdollisimman moni lähtee mukaan toteuttamaan toimintaa ja/tai viestintää kampanjaviikolla.
