Movie Night

The Finnish winter is cold, dark and tiring: my friends, it’s time for a well-earned getaway! ❄️

Welcome to the first ever 🎥 DGCC Movie Night 🎥, your chance to warm up with friends and popcorn!🍿 Whether in need of a break from lectures or simply a comfy evening with fellow students, you’ll find it from here.

We’re gathering at the A2 lecture hall in the Undergraduate Center’s A-wing on the 18th of February at 17:30 to get swept into the wonderful world of 🐼 Kung Fu Panda 🍜, after which we’ll move to an afterparty to chill, play board games and munch on pizza! 🍕

The event costs 4€ (including the movie, snacks and pizza&cola at the afterparty), to be payed at arrival by either cash or card. Signup is now open through the @DataGuildEventBot: call /events to get started! We’re excited to see you there! 🙌🏻

Epoch(3)

Data Guild is turning 3 years old – To celebrate this, join us at the Epoch(3), the now mythically traditional annual ball of the association.

The celebration begins on Saturday, 26th of February, at 17:00 at Smökki with cocktails, fine snacks and entertainment. Here, around 18:00, we will have a luxurious sitsit with food and people out of this world. The night tops off after the sitsit with a vibrant afterparty – And who knows where the night leads after that?

Gravitaatio is back

Get ready to experience the pull of Gravitaatio as we stumble down the rabbit hole from Laskiaisrieha all the way to Apollo!

After sledding and crawling, we get to fight the influence of gravity while jumping and dancing to the beat of some of the best artists in Finland!

Gravitaatio is held on Shrove Tuesday (March 1st) as an after party for Laskiaisrieha & Laskiaisappro.

Apply: International Master’s Programme in Communication and Data Science

Bachelor students in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, now it’s your chance to study a year at sunny Lisbon or the heart of French Alpes!

The Master’s Programme in Communications and Data Science is a double degree programme offered by the Unite! university network. It’s a two-year programme carried out jointly with three European universities: Aalto University, Université Grenoble Alpes and Universidade de Lisboa. Students start their studies at Aalto and after one year, they continue either in France or Portugal.

Dear 2nd year Bachelor’s and 1st year Master’s students – how are you? Please answer the study wellbeing questionnaire emailed to you.You get personal feedback and help us develop. 

The questionnaire will be available online from 16 Feb. to 2 March. 2022. Your response will remain anonymous.

After replying, you will get personal feedback with ideas on

  • how to handle stress in a better way
  • how to improve your study skills
  • how to stop procrastinating with difficult issues
  • how feelings affect study performance

We will communicate the programme level results to the heads of the degree programmes for the development of teaching.

Hackathon on Sustainable Forestry

The “Kvarken Space Economy” is a project aiming to raise regional space technology awareness, help developing a long lasting ecosystem utilizing the new space economy and boosting space-related business, as well as demonstrating the use of space technology and satellite data. The project is realized in the region of Botnia Atlantica in Sweden and Finland. It aims to support regional businesses to develop opportunities within the “new space economy” and commercialize existing space-based data, and is also designing a technology demonstration satellite mission “KvarkenSat” with imaging, positioning and radio communication capabilities. As a part of achieving these objectives, “Kvarken Space Economy” is organizing a hackathon in March 2022 called “KvarkenSat Innovation Challenge 2022 on Sustainable Forestry”.
